This video shows how to troubleshoot yourcomputer if it will not wake up from sleep or hibernate mode. First, if you are using a notebook computer, make sure it is plugged in to an AC power source and the power light is on. Follow these steps to enable the keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode in Windows 8. From the Start screen, type Device Manager, then select Device Manager from the list of
results in the Search charm. Open the Keyboards drop-down menu, then double-click the name of your keyboard. Click the Change Settings button if it appears
below the Device status box. If prompted, type your Administrator password,
then click Yes. Click the Power Management tab, and make sure that the box next to Allow this
device to wake the computer is checked. Click OK, then close Device Manager. On the Start screen, click the Power icon and select sleep. Tap any key on your keyboard to see if it
wakes up the computer. If the computer wakes up, you are finished
troubleshooting. If the computer still does not wake from sleep
mode, go to the next step. Updating the BIOS and drivers installed on
your computer can resolve many issues. Update the software and drivers using HP Support Assistant, or manually download updates from hp.com. Some computers come equipped with HP Support
Assistant. Use this program to easily update the drivers
and BIOS on your computer. To download updates from HP’s website, open your web browser and go to support.hp.com. Follow the on-screen instructions to download
and update the drivers and BIOS on your computer. Use the Windows 8 Power troubleshooter to adjust the power settings on your computer. From the Start screen, type Control Panel, then select Control Panel from the list of
results in the Search charm. In the Control Panel Search field, type troubleshooting, then select Troubleshooting from the list
of results. Under System and Security, click Improve power
usage. If prompted, type your Administrator password, Then click Yes. Click Next. A Detecting issues window displays while Windows
detects and attempts to fix any issues. After troubleshooting is complete, close the
troubleshooter, or click Explore additional options, and follow the on-screen instructions. You can find additional helpful videos at

I spent a ton of hard earned money and this computer will not come out of hibernation. The only thing I can do 85% of the time is a hard shut off and wait for it all to come back up. Why don't you fix this? The above did not work on my computer and I am running Windows 10. It is the only operating system I've run on the new computer. Sadly I regret this purchase but am now stuck with this POS computer.

Nice, I have windows 10 and updating the drivers through HP Support Assistant worked for me. Unfortunately, because of a major computer crash earlier this year I did not have HP Support Assistant yet, so I downloaded it from www.support.hp.com/us-en/drivers. This video was very helpful, thank you very much, if only my laptop wouldn't overheat sometimes (bad laptop design) I would be very happy about HP.

I'm using a Windows 10 HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook 15.
I downloaded all of the possible updates and I bought it with windows 10 so I can't even download MEI 9 or 10 on it since it already has 11 downloaded. I always have to press on the power button to make it wake up from the sleep mode. I really don't know what to do at this point. Also, my keyboard and my mouse are already set so that any movement would wake up my computer.
    What can I do?

My laptop doesn't come off of rest mode at all when I press the powerbutton, I even took the RAM, hard drive and battery out and put everything together again but it still won't go on. It attempts to go on for 2 seconds but the screen remains black and fails and shuts down.

I tried all these and it didn't work. Here's my solution https://justrigo.wordpress.com/2016/07/25/first-blog-post/. Turns out my problem was a configuration in my BIOS.

This doesn't help at all.  First I asked for help with windows 10, not windows 8.  However, when my computer goes to sleep I don't see the screen so how could I possibly click on anything.  If I could click around I'd be able to fix it myself.

hello there !! i have an hp 1000 2nd generation. i was using windows 7 few months, ago then one day i noticed that my laptop is not shutting down properly, when i shut it down from start menu using windows shutting down option, it takes few seconds and turns of screen while fan, power button and wifi leds remains on it remains on until battery is empty or i shut it down manually(by long pressing power button) and same is the condition when i put it into sleep it never wakes up. for few days i used to shut down it manually and then decided to upgrade to windows 8. problem was still there. and after that i even upgraded to windows 10 but in vain. searched on google for fix but did not found any solution instead i read about it may be BIOS issue and i also read it is risky too to play with BIOS type thing. please respond me with some safe guidelines or some solution as early as possible. Thank you!!

Exactly!  If my computer won't wake up all I get is a circle and the word "hibernating".  I can't use any other key!

Please tell does "waking up from hibernation via task scheduler" fuction stop to work after disconnecting from AC power supply ??
I think "waking up from hibernation via task scheduler" fuction does not work once I plug out & disconnect from AC power supply even though battery is fully charged . 🙁
I want to confirm . I am using HP Envy 13-D115TU laptop
Please read this carefully .I am writing in detail as much as possible ,so you can understand properly .Computer is plugged in & connected to A/C power supply .Now I create a task in task scheduler to run a specific program on a specific time (for example @10PM) properly .Now I hibernate my computer from power options .Read the three stages after this ..1. After that I leave the computer plugged in & connected to A/C power supply & wait .Then I see on dot 10PM the system wakes up from hibernation & the computer turns on perfectly .And then after putting the password I can see the program that I scheduled started & running perfectly .This is ok .2.After that I plug out the computer & disconnect from A/C power supply & leave it & wait .The battery percentage is now 93% that I checked before hibernating .Then on 10PM I see the system is not waking up from hibernation & the computer does not turn on even after 10PM .Why ??There is the problem .3.After that I plug out the computer & disconnect from A/C power supply & leave it & wait .The battery percentage is now 93% that I checked before hibernating .On 9:30 PM I plug in the computer & connect to the A/C power supply .But on 10PM I see the system is not waking up from hibernation & the computer does not turn on even after 10PM .Why ??There is the problemPlease help !! .
I tried these settings :Sleep Sleep after On battery: Never Plugged in: Never Allow hybrid sleep On battery: Off Plugged in: Off Hibernate after On battery: Never Plugged in: Never Allow wake timers On battery: Enable Plugged in: Enable

Ok so I've done everything in the document… Of I tried restarting it, Updates doesn't seem to be and issue but I can always check again, I tried troubleshooting and no issues were found. and there weren't any power management settings on my Laptop for the keyboard. I was using my Laptop earlier today and waking up from sleep wasn't an issue. So I was wondering if I just disable hibernation mode would that solve the problem.
