I'm trying out the free trial before going ahead with a purchase. I'm having difficulties with creating the walls and figuring out how to use this program. I;m using the browser version and I dont see all of the same tools that you have. Is it different in the app version??

Matt, I am a paid member of sketchuphero.com and Jake mentioned you about your book "Sketchup to Layout" which is how I found you here.
I am interested in purchasing your book and I thought maybe you know him, or know of him? I wondered if you might know if he is going to finish the 'Rocket' tutorial?

    Thank you!

who is the retarded monkey that made this program. yes it is free but that does not mean that it has to be broken!?. i really regret learning this program, i just get mad every time i have to go back and use it. look for something else if you dont want to loose your mind. sketchup has such potential but the programmer shouldnt have used his ass whole while putting it together.

Unless I missed something, this is a tutorial based on what edition of Sketchup ? Pro at $700 ?? I think this software has priced itself out of the ball park. I'd far sooner spend that money on a more popular 3D modeling software like Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD. Indeed these other competitors are giving away a lot more on their demo software.

I have watched your whole video waiting for you to tell me how to change a rectangle's dimensions. What i want to do should be super simple. I want to create a rectangle, then change its dimensions. There doesn't seem to be any way to do this. I can move it. I can copy it. But I can't get its dimensions to appear in the window. Once I can do this, I want to be able to create a box and then change it's dimensions. I have just spent an hour clicking around, and it seems that once you have created an object, you can't change it. This just seems crazy. So, if you are reading these comments, please tell me what I missed, or you forgot to tell me.

It would be helpful to us Mac users if the equivalent key or mouse button on a Mac were pointed out as Matt goes along. example: He mentioned the middle mouse button a few times, but there's no middle button on a Mac mouse. That aside, so far I'm impressed with the quality and clarity of this instructional video. Again, I just wish it were more multiple platform inclusive … OR is Sketchup primarily geared to the PC user?

why do all the tutorials on you tube always show SketchUp Pro? Obviously, a beginner or someone just thinking about using it is going to be using the free version and NOT THE PRO VERSION. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY STUPID.

I've used many complicated, multifaceted softwares in my time: TVPaint, Adobe Illustrator, Blender, professional video editing software, etc. I've encountered NOTHING as unintuitive as Sketchup.

Many softwares one can fiddle with and get the gist of the operations; not Sketchup. Everything is connected then they all skew together when you move one thing, right clicking produces nothing that you think it should, it's cumbersome.

How this software ever became as popular as it is is clearly a testament to a good marketing team, promotion, and strategy.

That "Instructor" feature is brilliant. I've worked with many programs that have an intermediate learning curve or higher and have never seen a feature that shows precise functions of a tool with a little demo of how to use it. Genius.

I'm not sure what you are teaching but it sure isn't the free beginner SketchUp! My version is online, has no menus like you show, and does not have the same tools in the same space. This is not worth the time to watch! BTW, what exactly is a "SketchUp Free Beginner's Course" for ONLY $49.00!! FREE? Is mastersketchup.com your own site?

I am an old SketchupPro customer. The 2019 purchase doesn't come with a key or license. And the link Trimble promised never came. Now, the only thing I have is my payment receipt, this means I am locked out from Sketchup. Also in my Trimble account my subscription doesn't occur. I reinstalled the software, restarted several times. No sketchup. I will no go back to Autodesk and autocad. Lousy customer post service on top of all my license problems.

Lost me straight away. Why do we need to choose a template? Which one? I would just like to start with drawing a straight line, then a circle, then an ellipse, then a square, all with different line properties. What 'template' would I need for that?

This is not sketchup for beginners! I don't want a template!
