hello everybody – I wanted to show you a quick video
that shows how the CPU hit his very much based on how you size your
camera coming in and so if you use a camera sized I to its built-in native resolution right
from the get-go then you’re probably going to experience CPU problems and like this can this this window that you seeing right here
is sized smaller than the native resolution okay
this is the size I like to use it but still it’s coming
in his native resolution I’ll take a look at what you see as a
result that happening over here on the right you’ll see that the CPU is
maxed out and spend ever since I started OBEs just
right here these previous ones were for me testing this make sure wouldn’t blow
up entirely right the actual I resolution at my camera here is their ego people is over here the actual resolution the camera to see
is a full 920 by 1080 even know it’s smaller than 1080 I because it’s a small window if I go
ahead in here and I make this so it fills the whole
screen you’ll see their reset size makes it go to to max okay so there you go so there’s the camera is
capable love this huge huge resolution a pretty high frame
rate anion a me quickly we set this thing position size I’ll just dragon smaller again ok okay so as you can see over here CP is maxing
out now me making the screen little the
smaller help some men still was really hurting and
anything else going on him processes starting up a starting at hand as
absolute zero headroom so it’s good usually affects the
recording make the sound start click lot of different problems starting
place well we can avoid that so let’s go ahead
and met since I’m using this: about this size round there and normally
right when only webcam a let’s go ahead and tennis down so going
to bring up the device and I hit customer solution and bring it down to size they actually
use which is like one or two former 576 and now I can go in here and I’ll hip position size we set size so there we
have it at the native thing its its this is the
actual size I wanted at you know mars the maximum size and it’s
already there and I can crop in which case them to look at what happened to the CPU here just pay me dropping it
now from 1080 P native so here I had this strong this native size resolution coming at
the camera even though I was shaking it down so
it’s using up all the CPU resources are necessary early now even get better now frame rates as a result of course
the lighting has a lot to do with it. pour more more lighting you pour on the
camera on you the better your frame rates less mushy
you know so when you do this you you don’t get as much fuller you do in
low light and do this since nothing became a CD fingers it’s our thoughts go ahead and bring in
another camera LifeCam cinema they have sitting over here and this one is also right now is that full
frame rate and you see what happened with the jump I in in the CPU okay and it shows nearly maxed out but I
really only use this and a much smaller size so let’s go
ahead and take this down and click on custom resolution Anna a is about a hundred by 4:40 a free this
and so there we have it it already is resized and immediately I see a huge improvement on the CPU here okay now mind you I’m running at very fast
settings and haven’t changed the Advanced tab to go in here and click on Advanced you see very fast this is the normal now
you can if you still having trouble with your CPU you can when a super fast which is meted the
encoder is running faster it’s not being as detailed in careful about getting
super high quality so you quality suffers a little bit but
CPU load goes way way down so if just by doing your camera and doesn’t help matters well then you
can going here and set this to very to
superfast I wouldn’t recommend ultra-fast that
usually means you keep you feeling you know barely capable do anything we
can try to see a quality will suffer greatly for super-fast will let you do more also
under the video you know so do it 1080 P video here I doesn’t have to be you know my screen
my monitor is 1080 P i can download I can downgrade it down
to a 720 P which is usually sufficient for despite every stream that most
people can download member and also as he doing to you too if you do it
direct stream lotta computers can even stream 1080 P into their computer without a soldering and buffering all
the time and certain internet streams just are capable where
they’re always buffering so a 720 P up actual output encoded output maybe are you actually need to see just
drop it down and hand believe me your CPU global drop like Mad
Catz more than twice I the load on the CPU going 1080 P compared to
seven Tony okay now can help likes it actually
wanna backed this until I restart stream but I’m one other thing you can
do it you can change the on there the frame rate let me bring
this back up again he go under the video you had the FPS here you could change
that to $25 and that will have a great effect on the
CPU as well okay until you restart stream now so to those type 2 settings before you
start stream okay anything in the Settings window
have to have the stream stopped and restarted again Anna probably have the recording stopped
and restarted again to you have recordings turning I only wear
hope that’s helpful at you now feel like you can get some
control over the situation and have some headroom
said you can run a browser and other software on my mind you my baseline a was you know with with all the subtle of was still pretty high because I’m
running these cameras in front am running with Global Sources
so once I start camera it stays on and even when I turn
them off in their window here there’s this the
drivers are staying loaded so that you don’t have a flicker when you change seems that’s
why you use the Global Sources over here so I help these three input says Global Sources so their way off switch
rocker switch back on AIM it also means that when your night been using minute
scene if you load in me even once they stay
semi loaded and keep making a CPU hit so if you use
a camera only once novel think it stays in air if you are not
going to be changing scenes are you need the camera in multiple scenes and don’t load the camera as a goal global source just right click Go to add video capture device and and at the item right from there and that way yes it
will switch off when you go to a scene that doesn’t use
it just turn it off okay and that will help you see Putah so
your idea I think that covers most what I want to show you so spring
up to camera again so I can say a take care i an hour and and happy
streaming to arming let’s go

    Few questions about Local Recording:
    1. What should i put as base resolution? My monitor resolution, or the resolution i want to upload?
    2. Bit rate for local recording, and how can i adjust it to fit my upload speed ?

I'm not noticing any difference. I dropped down from 1080 to 480 and my CPU usage didn't change. Same with my browser sources. I turned all them off and the CPU usage didn't change at all. I am however running a dual PC setup, and this was on the gaming computer that does not do the actual encoding or streaming. Could this be why? I'm trying to free up a bit more CPU usage on the gaming PC to help my games run a bit smoother.
