Fix your computer when it is not playing sound in Windows 10. Run the Windows troubleshooter to automatically fix sound problems. Select Start, type Audio Troubleshooter, and then select Find and fix problems with playing sound from the results. In the Playing Audio window, select Next. If your computer has multiple audio outputs, select the device to troubleshoot, and then select Next. Read and respond to the on-screen prompts to troubleshoot sound for the selected device. If the troubleshooter completes but does not resolve the issue, select Close, and then continue to the next step. Loose cables and low volume can cause sound problems. Check the device connections and adjust the volume. For a USB device, disconnect it, and then
reconnect it to another available port on the computer. For headphones or speakers, disconnect the cable and reconnect it to the correct jack. If the device has a built-in volume control,
turn it up to at least fifty percent. If your computer or keyboard has a Mute button, verify it is turned off. In Windows, adjust the sound volume slider to at least fifty percent. You should hear a sound, indicating the volume level. If you still do not hear sound, continue to
the next step. Update the driver in Device Manager. Connect your computer to the Internet for
best results. Select Start, type Device Manager, and then select it from the results. Expand Sound, video and game controllers, and then right-click your sound card or device. If troubleshooting sound with an HDMI cable, right-click the High Definition Audio device. Select Update Driver, and then select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows searches the computer and Internet for an updated driver, and then installs one if available. Adjust the volume slider again. If you still do not hear sound, continue to
the next step. In Device Manager, uninstall the driver, and then restart the computer to reinstall it. In Device Manager, right-click your audio
device, and then select Uninstall device. If prompted, select Delete the driver software for this device, and then select Uninstall. Restart your computer. Windows reinstalls the driver for the detected hardware. Adjust the volume slider again.

I have a brand new HP Spectre. I plugged in headphones and when i unplugged them, the top left and right speakers do not work. The bottom left and right speakers work however. This laptop essentially has 4 speakers. I have gone through all trouble shooting (ie. uninstalling drivers, ect.) and customer support could not help me. I think the laptop is so new, that this problem is uncommon and possibly unable to be repaired at the moment.

I have a audio start delay problem with my HP laptop. I tried to find a sollution but the ones on the net are too dificult for me to understand and I don't want to mess up my laptop with changing the register when I don't know what those stuff do. Can someone explain to me what I have to do?
The delay problem is like this: You start a video on youtube, or play a movie with VLC or whatever… and the sound of the video starts after 10 seconds. To listen from the beginning I always have to go back to the beginning of the film. It's not that hard, but quite annoying and it isn't supposed to be so I want it fixed…

The Hp software support wanted $55 to help fix the sound on my laptop after it stopped working after an update. My warranty expired the day before. I was not happy and I watched this video and was able to figure out how to fix it. I had to do things a little differently but thanks to this video I was able to fix it. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saved me and I can do my homework for nursing school.

The low ends of my headphones just don't sound as crisp. On my phone it sounds amazing but since I updated my laptop it stopped sounding good. I have no idea why this started happening and I followed the steps but of course it doesn't work. Windows always screws something up every time it updates. If anyone has any idea how to fix this, please let me know. I'm desperate to fix it and I can't use my phone for everything because it's a defect. The battery dies faster than a cockroach with ebola.

I also tried all of these steps and nothing worked. This happened all of a sudden when I updated and restarted the computer one day. When the laptop restarts, the volume is fine, but within 20 seconds, it fades to very low even though the sound is turned up to 100% on the lap top and the application I am using. One time I had my earphones in and after several hours, the speakers kicked in and the volume was coming through both the earphones and the speakers. This is just a faulty laptop manufactured by HP unfortunately. If HP is charging $60 to fix, obviously they are getting a boat load of complaints from frustrated customers. I have had several lap tops and I have never experienced this issue. Mac Books are starting to look better and better every day.

I went START > typed "Windows Audio Troubleshooter" and nothing was found. The PC is around 15 months old and the sound stopped roughly 8 months into it.
