Hi, I’m Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In
this video clip, I’ll be talking about sanding techniques. Now when we routed our leg, it
actually left just a little bit of lip there still, so we need to come back and sand that
with an orbital sander. Now when we sand this with a random orbit sander we want to make
sure that we don’t sand through the plywood veneer which is very, very thin. You just
want to sand it until that transition is nice and perfectly smooth. Now that we sanded down
our leg we need to take a look at these edges here these edges are really sharp, so sharp
in fact that they can actually cut you. If you bump those it’s going to chip off a big
chunk of wood and that is not just going to look very good. So what we are going to do
I’ve taken a piece of 2 X 4 with a belt that would go on a belt sander and we are going
to use this at about a 45 degree angle. We are going to lightly break those edges and
just kind of give those a little round over. Next we are just going to come back over with
a piece of sand paper and just kind of smooth out that rounded edge. Now it still looks
square but if somebody bumps it it’s less likely to chip off.
