The side pocket is great for an umbrella.

Also, the regular kanken fits a slim water bottle like a chilly 500.

Also a bottle like to VOSS small bottle (which can be refilled) would fit

I'm from Norway and I can tell you that this bag has been the "it" bag for women for at least five years over here. You see it everywhere. Fjellräven are known to produce reliable, high quality stuff. Glad to see it on an American review site like this!

I have 2 13 inch and 1 mini. I think its a good bag for a day trip. My biggest issue is they get so dirty. It doesn't matter the color or how many times you scrub it

I see there is some color loss, expected after three years. However, early on, did you find the lighter color (ie not black) difficult to keep looking clean?

Thank you for making this video review! 😊 the price is quite expensive (to me) but I think it's worth the money. This video has been encouraging me to save my money even more to buy Kanken! hopefully someday I can buy this backpack! 😄

I’m going to get a 15” kanken for highschool but I can’t decide between the colors Acorn and Blue Ridge. Which color should I get? Also, are the colors accurate in real life compared to the website? Because I’ve seen a ton of different shades for the same color and would like to know what to expect when buying this expensive product.

I really like the look of the pack, but Im just about to send off an email to get an exchange or refund for my classic fjallraven. The first had the strap fabric popping out from the button and my current one has one of the fabric triangles at the bottom coming away from the main compartment 🙄 I absolutely ADORE my Fjallraven Ovik though, it is the most comfortable backpack I've owned ☺️

I have the 15” laptop version of this pack (for 4 years now) and I love it! I can fit a SWELL water bottle in one side pocket and either sunglasses or a small umbrella in the other one.

just bought this bag a few days ago after saving up for it! I’m excited to test it out, esp hearing that it’s long lasting! As a college student, I believe it’s a good investment considering most of my backpacks don’t last that long 😔 thanks for the review, just made me even more excited for it to come in!! 😊

is this bag good for high school sophomores? most of my work is online so i have my laptop, but i plan to carry a regular sized notebook + folder for 5 classes (i leave the ones i don’t need for the day in my locker), my ipad, and a small pencil case. Also could a water bottle with abt 7cm in diameter fit the side pocket?

I agree. Always looking for terrific backpacks, preferably water resistant, organized and comfortable to carry lots of dog gear as well as my own for pet therapy visits. I love the Kanken colors, but wonder why the company does not listen to the numerous requests for expandable / stretch material bottle holder pockets AND perhaps throw in at least one zipper compartment inside and out. For price, I agree with others, TOO $$$$ for the effectiveness / usefulness. There are so many out there now to choose from …

I have a Fjallraven Kanken mini and I absolutely adore it. On that one, the side pocket is the perfect size to keep my phone in, with the top poking out to grab it quickly (but snug enough that when I swing the pack onto its side to grab something it doesn't fall out). The durability was honestly what surprised me the most, and definitely made it worth the extra dollars imo.
