I will try to talk mostly in literary/standard Slovene but I will most likely… from time to time… mess it up. Meter eighty (in the Ljubljana dialect) EIGHTY. (in the standard Slovene) Forty six (in the Ljubljana dialect) FORTY SIX. (in the standard Slovene) So hey and welcome back to my channel. This video for a change will be in Slovene. I got the inspiration for this video from… barbara4u2c The link to her video I will leave up here if you want to see her video too. The topic of the video will be interesting facts about Slovenia which I found on the internet and some which I have already known myself. The first fact about Slovenia… that there is only 2 million inhabitants in Slovenia The second fact is that the capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana Pronounced LJU-BLJA-NA And in the year 2016 Ljubljana was announced as the greenest city in the world Ljubljana has about 200000 inhabitants.I think… It is also the biggest Slovenian city Another interesting fact about Slovenia is So Ljubljana was announced the greenest city in the world but not only is Ljubljana green 60 percent of the whole Slovenian territory is covered by forrest So Slovenia as a whole is a very green country. So the next interesting fact is that Slovenia has 46 km of coastline. Some of the beautiful coastline cities are Piran, Koper and Izola. And they are also the most famous. So Slovenia has forrest, it has sea but we also have mountains The highest Slovenian mountain is Triglav It is named Triglav because it has three peaks/heads. (tri=three; glava=head) The highest peak of Triglav is at an altitude of 2864m. Slovenia is also known for a lot of churches and castles we have all over the Slovenian territory. So Ljubljana, the capital also has a castle which stands on a hill. The seventh very random fact is that Slovenia is… I don’t know by which data/measurments on the ninth place on the list of the tallest countries in the world. the average height is supposedly 180cm. Slovenia also has a lot of beautiful rivers. And on one of those, on the Soča river to be more precise one short part of the Narnia movies was filmed I think it is the beginning scene of one of the movies which shows the fall of some bridge. Slovenia is also known for a very special animal called the Human fish The Human fish is typical for the Postojna cave which is one of the karst caves we have in Slovenia Besides the Postojna cave one of the very popular tourist attractions is Bled and its lake which is known for its little island in the middle of it with a church on it The lake Bled and the church in the middle of it is not the only thing for which Bled is famous for it is also famous for Kremšnita (cream cake) which is one of the very traditional Slovenian dishes but it is very typical for Bled. Besides Kremšnita which is typical for Bled, there are also other typical Slovenian dishes Like Kranjska klobasa (Carnolian spiced pork sausage), Prekmurska gibanica (layered pastry with poppy seeds, walnuts, apples, raisins, and cottage cheese filling) potica (some sort of a roll/cake) žganci donuts, the Trojan donuts The Trojan donuts(or donuts in general) are usually eaten in the time of Pust (a holiday) Pust is similar to Halloween but it is celebrated in February or March. Slovenia also has some traditional costumes which are worn for Pust The most well known is the Kurent costume which supposedly chase away winter So this were all the random, interesting facts about Slovenia so that you could get a feeling about how Slovenia is and so that you could hear how the Slovenian language sounds like.
