Due to the nature of building a custom computer
you may find compatibility issues with the following
parts list. Today I’m here with the next in my series
of computer build videos, this time at the $600 price point.
For a very reasonable amount you will be able to build
yourself a gaming PC that can run most any game on the market
today at high or even maxed graphics settings. The starting
point is going to be an Intel Core i3-2100. As one of the new
Sandy Bridge CPUs this features a dual core design clocked
at 3.1GHz which combined with Hyper Threading and some Intel
magic makes for a CPU that will match if not exceed many older
generation quad core processors for $125. For a motherboard
we’re going to use the Biostar TH67+. Since the i3-2100
is incapable of overclocking anyway we can save some nice
cash by going with an H67 board. You still get a nice variety
of features including four slots of DDR3 RAM, a pair of
SATA 3 6GB/s ports along with four SATA 2 ports and two USB 3
all on a MicroATX board for $90. The graphics card for the build
is a XFX Radeon 5770. This is an outstanding last generation
GPU that features DirectX 11 support, an 850MHz core clock along
with 1 HDMI port, a DisplayPort and two DVI connectors. In addition
it comes with the fantastic XFX lifetime warranty and great
customer service. This will run you $105 after rebate. For the
memory we’ll use a pair of 2GB PNY RAM sticks for a total of
4GB. Each stick is clocked at 1333Mhz in dual channel for this
build. This is more than sufficient for most games out there and
leaves room for adding additional memory in the future if
you need it. Not bad for $37 after a mail in rebate. $600 isn’t
quite enough to afford a SSD in our build so we’re going to use
a Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM hard drive with 500GB of capacity.
This is a good compromise between speed and size and is a
great deal for $40 currently. A DVD burner is certainly optional
these days however it’s still a useful feature so we’ll use
a LITE-ON CD/DVD burner for $21. Although we could easily cheap out
and get a MicroATX case with an integrated power supply instead
we’re going to use a Antec Three Hundred ATX mid tower case and
Thermaltake TR2 500W power supply. By spending the extra money
we get a larger, higher quality case giving lots of room for future
upgrades in addition to plenty of overhead as far as power is concerned.
$85 for the pair after rebates isn’t half bad. Last
but not least we have a shiny new system builder copy of Windows 7
Home Premium 64-bit. If you already have a copy of Windows you
can easily skip out on this but otherwise this will run you a cool
$100. So how much did we end up burning through the debit card?
As of April 26th, 2011 the entire list will run you $592.87 after
all mail in rebates and combo offers on Newegg.com. Of course since
this is a custom build feel free to customize it to your own liking
but overall if you are interested in PC gaming this should get you
up and running with a nice rig without breaking the bank.
just ordered the stuff last night 😀 cant wait to build it
1:01
2 usb ports is only good for the keyboard and mouse…
the hard drive is now like $95 🙁
is the thermaltake tr2 modular?
amd for quad core processors at around $100
intel for best performance, if youre willing to pay for it.
just get an expander freind:) it gives u like 4 more slots
i have a way better budget than this……which includes the same processor but with GTX-550Ti….which is for between $450-$520…..
this computer is more upgradeable though. plus the 2100 beats every quad core amd processor you can think of.
500 gb for $40… those were the good days
for gaming anyway
CORE i3 why not use core i5
don't you need a cpu cooler?
Cause it cost a shit ton more unless you live by a microcenter.
AMD has some nice quad cores, but if it's for gaming only, then an intel i3 with hyperthreading will beat all of AMD's quad cores at the same price. Hell, it'll beat AMD's best, the 8-core fx 8150, in gaming.
there only good for the medium and low range cpus.
im pretty much looking for a gaming pc under $700 that can run bf3 at almost high settings can anyone help me out?
can i use a AMD Phenom II X4 955 instead???
and will it work with thee motherbored?
you mean STEAL
I'll pirate software, but an operating system? What happens if the OS crashes because it is faulty after a year or so? You lose everything.
Explain to me how you will do this if you can't boot your pc up at all?
i think you should,AMD is popular for quality for lower prices 🙂
Hey will this run bf3? Cuz i want a pc that can run bf3 but for under 700 to 750 dollars
Or at least diablo 3
yes you just need a differnt motherboard
everyone.
make a backup early and if you have a key for windows 7 use it
can this pc run wow at max settins -cataclysm???????
i got a i7 quad coree nvidia geforce with beats audio what do i need more loll?
Why would you? The Intel dual core performs better than that piece of shit.
ya but you will need a diffrent mother board
yes you can and if you do so you will need a socket am3 or am3+ motherboard. i recommend the asus m5a97 for about $95.
Thanks
glad to help:)
This just might be my first build, but can this run DayZ or Arma2 and Battlefield 3?
make that 500dollars, pirated copy of windows 7 my friend ;D
would i be able to play skyrim/fallout new vegas
nope it uses intell processors and with a socked of 1155
all i play is minecraft and do some video editing and unloads to youtube, will this pc build be good for that??
I have a 500$ build. I can run MC at a steady 70FPS on maximum settings. You'll be good.
I need help. I need to know what i should look for in a pc for under $600 n where. Or should i buy one made from the comany?
Also i want to pay left 4 dead n cod on ir
Can u play bf3 on low-medium on 50-60 fps? 🙂
Phenom II X4 965 BE = i3-2100 in gaming. But for more complicated programs I hear the Phenom II>i3 since it's quad core.
Yeah. You'll have 0 trouble running a game like minecraft with this set up. Minecraft isn't that demanding.
Pick a resolution! 😉 1080p? 1600×900? 1366×768? 720p?
1366×768 🙂
Oh. You're looking for a laptop? You should have no problem. At that resolution you might even be able to go to high at around 40 fps.
no, i just dont know what resulotion! (but probably 1600×900) xD
But is it a laptop? I think the 6770 is used in laptops. Don't quote me on this. I buy laptops for work mostly. My Desktop is for games.
Get an X4 965 from Micro Center for $90 if you can. But you might have to be a little lucky.
This motherboard is great! Just saying. Getting a combo deal with a Phenom II X4 965.
hehe, no, its not a laptop 🙂
OK. But to answer your original question 🙂 At 1600×900 you can play just fine on lower settings. Shouldn't be a problem.
oh, nice, (i dont care about graphics that much)
OK. That's good. Low and high look very similar. Just AA and AF make a difference.
yeah, but u know, better with uglier graphics and better performance than high graphics and more lag 🙂
No better to find a good balance. 45fps is good. No need to play on low if you get 70fps. Raise it until you're dropping to a minimum of 30-35fps.
yeah, your right, thanks so much for your help btw 😀
will I be able to run minecraft and skyrim on it?
can i run battlefiled 3 that is my purpose of this
I3-2100 will perform better in most games, check the benchmarks.
Check out my new channel HalfG22 for awesome commentarys game review gameplay and more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you do that?
Battlefield 3 is probably one of the most easiest games to run. Yes it can.
Pc gaming not worth it
can it run arma 2 on high or max settings
@duncan33303 How old will this PC be until I'm gonna need an upgrade
You already need to upgrade, this video is over a year old.
I think Im gonna go for this with just some costume tweeks 😉
@edralyn1979 Depends on how you use it and what the conditions are where you put the computer
Can this run bf3 on high settings plz answers
if im building a computer with 1tb storage 16gb ram the intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz cpu how much ssd memory do i need 128gb is to overkill?
low setting of course medium ya high sorta ultra umm
your old and new videos are sooooo amazing xD
Thank you for all this info. I am a newb when it comes to pcs and I know nothing about them. I want to learn as much as I can to get out of the old fashioned consoles. Unlike some console gamers I am starting to wake up. There is just so much to learn. BIOS, spu specs, gpu, instillation, windows, ect.
Could it run bf3
bf3 ultra?
Watch jack frags one so much better
@genharmdog they will work but you must buy parts that are compatible with each other
Hey guys, I have lots of builds, gameplays and how-to's on my channel. Check it out pleeeeezzzz!!! Thanks
I think the gpu was originally designed for macs
yes.
Guys keep in mind this is 2011

You have the most annoying voice on youtube

Check the date.
Anyone notice he said HD 5770 but put a link to a HD 6770?
a lot of people like using there build to test Battlefield 3. is that game like the most powerful game needing the highest specs to run?
